Collaboration in the classroom is beneficial to students because they can learn new skills, develop communication skills, leadership, and portray their strengths. They will learn skills that involve resolving conflicts. To make it work it should consist of small groups where everyone can contribute, while feeling safe yet challenged.
The teacher should ensure that students the students should actively participate with contributions valued and students are respectful. Students should be invested in their own learning. It's important to give open ended questions for the students because it encourages the learners to discover answers. The outcomes of collaboration involve mastery of fundamental subjects, learning innovative skills, information and technology skills, and life and career skills.

What is partnering pedagogy?
Students are given more opportunity in the classroom to express themselves while incorporating technology. The textbook, Teaching Digital Natives: Partnering for Real Learning, by Marc Prensky discusses the teaching strategy of partnering and incorporating in the classroom. Almost any question to have about it could be answered in this textbook, including the different types of nouns (tools) that can be used in the classroom. This book contains many aspects on what is important to today's students and how this approach can work in the classroom along with how to organize it. Teaching Digital Natives also discusses different subjects that partnering can be incorporated into different subjects. Thinking about how it affects students is also important but this book promotes how to think about the students and their passions rather than classes and content. Understanding how to plan is important but this book does not leave that out as it discusses how to become better and relate questions to students and their passions. As every educator knows assessment is critical but behold, this wonderful textbook goes into detail about different assessments to use in the partnering pedagogy classroom. Overall, this is a very interesting textbook full of resourceful information that I plan to purchase for future references. Constructivism is a great theory founded by John Dewey, Jean Piaget, John Jerome Bruner, and Lev Vgotsky, which should be incorporated into the classroom.
Constructivist teachers are unlike traditional teachers when it comes to the classroom such as: students being grouped or paired where collaboration can take place. They also enhance resources further than a textbook. The classroom is student-centered and the teacher is a guide and enabler in discussions and lessons. Having students be involved with one another enables further knowledge and critical thinking skills because it requires them to see other's point of view. The students will be engaged, reflective, collaborative, and problem solvers by working together. Assessment is different for a constructivist compared to a traditionalist. Constructivist teacher's use assessment as a tool and guide for the student's learning progress and understanding. Some assessment types may include journals, group projects, case studies, and role playing. These types of assessments tend to not stress students because they are not aware they are being assessed. The Present, Apply, and Review (PAR) Model is a model based on research collected from experiments on what type of teaching promotes the most effective learning for students. This Model emphasizes the student taking more responsibility to their own learning and the teacher acting as a guide, reflecting constructivism. Present is when new information or skills are presented to the learners. Apply is when the students apply their knowledge in the best way the teacher feels suitable. Review is when the teacher reviews/summarizes what was taught and if what was to be learned is understood. Reading aloud is a great way to apply the PAR Model in the classroom because you can use different type of assessments from it. You can teach vocabulary, theme, setting, characters, plot, and so forth. As long as there is a discussion before and after the reading, the students will be able to apply what was learned, and the teacher should follow through with a review to reinforce and understand what was taught. Constructivism has many great benefits to the students that should be a way of teaching in many ways. Everyone has there own teaching style, but I personally enjoy this one and plan to use many ideas in my classroom. A flipped classroom is when teachers give students lessons prior to a class meeting. Students are required to watch the videos of the material before the class where classroom time is taken advantage of. Having lessons reviewed prior to class allows classroom time to be used for reviewing and applying what's been learned.
As students, please discuss whether you think this will be beneficial to us. How? We have discussed what 21st Century Skills are and how they influence future students. Please describe below what the skills are and how they are beneficial?
Let's discuss your Thanksgiving break, what you enjoyed most, what food did you love? Do you love it so much you would eat it everyday? What are you thankful for? Please use proper sentence form.
